Summer 2009 & Vacation to the Northwest

Well, we're home now...but we were gone...I'm mean physically! We went to Vancouver WA to see my brother Jeff & his wife April & their kids. Then up to Seattle to see Whit & Cristopher & do a day at Pike Place...you know!...where they throw the Fish! Then the 4 of us went over to Spokane to visit some friends (Whit & Chris stayed with them, the Finnelleys)...then we all went on to Chewelah, where we used to live....it was their annual fair "Chataqua". We played in Waitts Lake, ate everything in sight...stayed with some other friends...the Ludwigs. We visited the old ranch that we lived on...that was weird...not one creature on the place...we had HUNDREDS....40 peacocks, 200 ducks, 35 chickens, pig, 5 horses, steer, sheep & raccoons plus dogs & cats, donkeys & cows...it was sooo quiet there now. We had a blast doing everything & seeing everyone. Daniel & Christopher had never been there & didn't know our friends...so we showed them...I love traveling with Daniel, we just have the best time...but we were ready to come home too. We're lovin the summer & our garden is starting to produce....but those tomatoes are still not ready...rats!

The garden's in, the grass is green (sort of)...the flowers are starting to bloom...ahh, all is right with the world ay! We're thinking about going on holiday in a couple of weeks...North or South...that's the question. I've had my rotator cuff surgery & it's getting better every day...I think it was kind of dumb to do this in the summer tho(right arm in sling for 6 weeks)....weeding left handed is not the best way! We're watching Chris & Whit's cat for 3 months while they are in Seattle for Chris' internship with a Wake Board compay...every day I think Whit & I can do this...oh, wait...she's NOT HERE!!! Daniel's running everyday....he & his boys didn't get drawn for St George, so they will run the Logan Marathon in Sept. We're having fun seeing movies & grilling all kinds of food....working in the yard...(which I personally think is fun)...we won't ask Daniel what he thinks of it....but he grows a massive garden....all the plants mutate & produce so much, this year we put some plants down the driveway edges...because the garden gets too crowded. Life is very simple & good...are those tomatoes ready yet?

Whit & Chris are moving....Whaaaaaaa!!!!

Daniel sent some boxes over to Whit's today...& I helped her pack up their kitchen....it was really kinda sad! They are going to Seattle for 3 months for Chris' internship. But...before we started packing...I was starving so we went to McDonalds for a snack wrap ay....but no....they weren't serving lunch yet...rats! So we went to the dollar store & she got a new hammer...there went a dollar! Then on to Shopko to spend another dollar on picture hangers...by now I'm Really starving...as I'm driving I put on my dark sunglasses...but lo...something is amiss...I can see a lot more clearly out of one of the "lenses"....I'm trying to adjust them & finally turn to say something to Whit & she BURST of laughing....(one of the lenses was Gone). She laughed about that for a good 10 minutes!!! Now...back to McD's I get my snack wrap & a drink ...first the dumb lids won't fit...then all my change fell on the floor from a hole in my pocket...then we ate...& started to leave ...but I wanted to refill my drink...Whit was on her way to the car...(it was locked)...ha! So I hurried & put my drink under the ice dispenser....but I forgot to take off the lid....I think McDonald's was glad to see us leave! We actually did get some packing done...but it was not without effort!

Mother's Day

What a fun Mother's Day! Lots of calls & good wishes & visitors & food! I love being a mom...and it's one of the days of the year that let's our kids be mushy....(mostly in card form), but still....Mother's wait all year to hear these words of love & appreciation. I'm one of the lucky ones, in that our kids really put forth that extra effort that says I love you mom from January to December. Daniel gave me yellow tulips & a beautiful card....with an extra little message from him...which is my favourite part. Today it's back to the grind...which is not really a grind...the weather's gorgeous, & I'm on my way outside to work (play) in the yard! Daniel & I are in gear to lose some weight & he's running better today, getting ready for his 5th St George Marathon.

Saturday

I wonder what it would be like to have a Saturday when Daniel's home....he's really never had a job where he's off on the "weekends". We're looking forward to the day when he's retired and home All The Time! How fun would that be....I can't wait to find out. I ask him everyday to stay home & play....We're getting our garden ready for planting next week...which will be the earliest we've ever done it. Plus we're putting those little solar lanterns in the yard....very cute. I tried growing Cotton...it's a cool plant but I put it out too early....rats! Next year. This week Whitney, Malia & I fed the ducks in Provo....lots of ducklings too....oh so cute! Reminded me of when I had 200 (no, really)...ducks under my bedroom window quacking for breakfast everyday!....what a trip! I think we need to get some livestock around here again.

Ok, so now I'm awake at 3 something AM....been awake since 2....the pain in my shoulder is depriving me of sleep! Daniel on the other hand seems to have been whacked over the head from a 10# bag of sand by the Sandman. I'm wondering who else is out there Blogging??? As I was lying there awake, I was starting to get creeped out by the thought of Rotator Cuff surgery next month...so I thought I'd get up...then I was wondering what goodies the refrigerator had in stock...but as attested to by the mirrors in our house....I have wondered that far too often!! Hope you all are in the depths of slumber....
